Morley had several ideas for improving the Michelson Interferometer and in 1887 a new instrument was built in the basement of Western Reserve's Adelbert College in Cleveland. The instrument consisted of a 1.5 meter square block of sandstone on which was mounted the optical apparatus. The stone block rested on a wooden disk floating on mercury in a cast iron tank.

Affascinante! Insomma questi due si sono messi lì per anni e anni (10 anni esperimenti) a sniffare vapori di mercurio alla ricerca dell'etere... Un paio di idee geniali e poi tanto ma tanto tempo a limare il congengno, allineare specchi, calibrare ruotare misurare... Bravi (da Nobel, direi :-))
A parte questo, ho capito qualcosa di teoria della relatività:
- se tu ti muovi, io ti vedo un po' più corto.
- se il prof. SOS spiega delle formule, io lo vedo molto più veloce. Ahimè.
